Battlefield Bad Company 2 Beta…. the experiance

by on Jan.28, 2010, under Gaming

So today is the big day.  BFBC2 Beta is live and kicking… well sort off. The developers have been very clear that this is a REAL beta. That means that they are heavily squashing bugs and that one should expect them. Hey at least they are setting the expectations right.

I figured we do something interesting and make our Beta expiriance a running update with a dedicated page.

So go here and see the running thread:

Eastern Front for CoH

by on Jan.26, 2010, under Gaming

I just tried out the Eastern Front Mod for CoH. I have to admit I am impressed. Not only does it give you a whole other side to play (Russians) but it adds plenty of new Maps.

The Game mechanics will need a little tweaking but for a free community based mod this is plain awesome. Show me these kind of things on the console… ;)

This still just so surprises me that Relic has not continued to do a little modding on their own game. I be paying for DLC that gives us a few more maps. Come on guys… make my day! :)

Here are the files you need to expiriance this great mod:

Game Client

Launcher App

If you have any issues or problems head over to the official website and get more info. If you enjoyed CoH at any time you should not miss out on this!

Where has the Quality gone? My Logitech G35

by on Jan.26, 2010, under Hardware

So about 6 month ago I purchased the G35 headphones after reading reviews and trying to find a replacement for my trusty Sennheisers.

I have to admit I was happy with them. They don’t squash my ears but fir around them. The sound is great and clear…. not to mention 7.1. But yesterday I found the real weakness of the headphones. It’s workmanship. Let me point out that I never once dropped them, I don’t throw my stuff around but they stay pretty much in the same place.

So I was finishing up edeting episode 4 of our podcast, take them of my head and I see plastic pices flying off the headphones. Next thing I knew, I had one of the ear parts in my hand.

Needless to say that at over $100 I would expect them to last a little longer then 6 month!

I will contact Logitech the next couple days and see what they have to say about it. I will of course talk about my experience here on the blog and in our podcast.

Back to my dusty Sennheisers for now… :(

Star Trek Online Beta Ground Combat

by on Jan.17, 2010, under Videos

Here is more footage of the StarTrek Online Beta. I focused a little more on the ground combat with this one. As you can see things are really jumpy. So much so that playing is not a whole lot of fun. Using your ability’s takes a lot of time and the lag makes it a bit of a lottery of when a shot will fire or a heal will land.  This will be the last video about StarTrek online from me since the game is neither fun, entertaining or recomendable.

Being just 2 weeks from release this is a bad bad showing. Right now I can’t recommend you get this game. Save your money and wait a couple month… maybe they can turn things around, but from what I have seen so far things don’t look good.

Consoles what now?????!!!

by on Jan.12, 2010, under Gaming, Hardware

Today marks a new height of pisstivity for me…  My raggedy 360 finally quit.

I *would* get the error not covered by the extended warranty…….

Yep, thats right… now matter how many times I tried the q-tip trick…  It wouldn’t come back alive.

My Paw sez you kan fix anythang wit a hammar…

But not this raggedy POS…

More evidence

You know, I’m really NOT a console hater….  but this still bothers me to no end.  This machine is 25 months old, hasn’t seen a lot of use by any stretch of the imagination, and now craps out because of crappy manufacturing and workmanship.  Totally unacceptable.  I mean…   I game quite a bit, but on PC not Xbox.  So for something thats 2 years old to go kaput outtta blue just urks me to no end…  I mean when you pay a couple hundred bux for something, you expect it to last…. at least longer than 2 years…  To top it off, Microsoft won’t cover this under warranty because its the wrong error.  If I had gotten the 3 ring, E74 error, I would have been golden.   Since I don’t, they want to charge me $99 to fix it….   WTF??

So….  ”Now me and the mad scientist gotta rip appart the block, and replace the Piston rings you fried……”.

Duke Nukem Forever, really? Confirmed.

by on Jan.07, 2010, under Gaming

First of all, I love Duke Nukem, there has been countless LAN party hours spent owning friends in the game. Everything from modifying jibs and writing out names in blood to out running rockets just to kill ourselves with our own missiles and see blood and body parts spray everywhere, all while falling out of our chairs while laughing hysterically.

“The voice of Duke Nukem, Jon St. John, says “Read between the lines…” in reference to his inability to provide specifics on the state of Duke Nukem Forever during his panel discussion at the Music and Games Festival (MAGFest) that took place January 1 – 4 in Alexandria, Virginia.”

Full article at pixelenemy.

I, for one, am excited to see Duke Nukem Forever still being talked about and possibly still being worked on, hopefully one day we’ll be able to hear our favorite FPS character mutter these words again, “It’s time to kick ass and chew bubble gum. And I’m all out of gum.”
