Get Portal for the PC and MAC for Free (Torchlight 50% off)
by BlackThunder on May.13, 2010, under News
Portal used to cost money. Until May 24th, it’s free. End of story.
Well, technically speaking, there are some strings attached. Fortunately, they’re entirely decorative. We just like the way they look, swaying in the gentle breeze created by a million people simultaneously fainting from shock at the news that Portal is free. Now you have no reason not to try Portal.
“I have a reason,” some of you are probably typing into an angry email. “You see, sir, I own a Mac.”
Well guess what: For the first time ever, Portal is also available for the Mac.
“Capital news! But the excellent puzzle adventure Portal won over 40 Game of the Year awards; Surely it must cost at least five or six hundred dollars.”
Torchlight 50% off
Behold Torchlight, a fresh new Action RPG franchise developed by Runic Games. Torchlight is being developed in Seattle by a veteran team composed of the designers and leads of projects like Diablo, Diablo II, Mythos, and Fate. Our team has spent many years honing and evolving this unique style of gameplay.
The adventure is set in the mining settlement of Torchlight, a boomtown founded on the discovery of rich veins of Ember – a rare and mysterious ore with the power to enchant or corrupt all that it contacts. This corruptive power may have dire consequences however, and players set out into the nearby mountains and depths below to discover the full extent of Ember’s influence on the civilizations that have come before.
Runic Games will initially release Torchlight as a standalone Single Player game, Torchlight will be released in the latter part of 2009 as a download or in box. Following the single player release, work will commence on a fully-featured MMO version.

Could it be that this is the MMO that will pull some of the PC community together? Let’s follow the game and see if we can find out a little more.

Are achievements important to you?
by BlackThunder on May.06, 2010, under News
Achievements just been announced for a bunch of games. Notably Starcraft HD and Civ V. I never was much into them but I am far from the norm. I want to talk about this in an upcoming podcast. It would be great to hear some input.
Are achievements important to you? How important? Do they influence your buying decision? Do you look your friends achievements up on Steam or console?
So let’s hear it.

What is it with the sales this week?!
by BlackThunder on May.01, 2010, under Gaming, News
OK, what is going on with all the sales this week?
If you been here a while you know that we don’t post that many usually. We just highlight good deals, especially when we are tempted by them too. Now they have a 8 hour special for GTA IV on steam. $7.50… just wow!
I have the game for my XBOX360, or better the Wizzle has it, but heck… for that price… it might be worth it to buy it again… or is it… darn you STEAM!
Any of you guys have it? How is the Multiplayer on PC? Let me know.. 8 hours isn’t much time to make up my mind!
Focus on Lord British
by BlackThunder on May.01, 2010, under RETRO Gaming
An interesting look into the life, mind and world of Richard Garriot aka Lord British. It’s quite interesting to look a little into what makes the man tick. Too bad Tabula Rasa didn’t live up to the expectations. I wanted to like it, but there just wasn’t enough there.
Somewhere I have a picture with me and him, meeting him at an E3 where he showed his then unreleased Ultima Online. If I find it I scan it and post it.
