Battlefield 3 Review by IGN (EDITOR’S CHOICE!)
by Simon on Nov.06, 2011, under Gaming, Review, Videos
Are you a FPS fan? Do you enjoy multi-players FPS? You still don’t have BF3?
If you answer YES to the above questions, DO NOT READ THIS REVIEW NOW! Because you need to buy the game now. Seriously go buy it then come back to read the IGN review while you wait for the excitement.
IGN basically sums up everything in 1 simple paragraph.
“While DICE may not deliver a memorable story here, it doesn’t need to when Battlefield 3′s online warfare raises every bar imaginable, delivering one of the best multiplayer experiences of the year. I doubt Battlefield purists will complain much about the campaign, honestly; I know you’re enlisting in this battle to bring down entire armies online. ”

Wanster’s New Screen
by Simon on Jul.18, 2011, under Hardware, News
So after seeing Josh’s awesome alienware laptop with a 17inch 120Hz 3D screen, I have decided I need one as well. So I went to Fry’s yesterday and pick up my own 3D monitor.
It’s an Alienware AW2310 120Hz Nvidia 3D Ready.

It’s slick looking for sure, and 120Hz is definitely visible compare to my 60hz asus or samsung. It has 4 USB ports in the back as well. Slick touch sensitive power and control button on the side. One of the best thing besides look is that with this monitor, you can actually tilt, adjust height and pivot easily. So far it looks great in Counter Strike and League of Legends. Alienware definitely went all out with the design and the package. In the package, you actually get a Dual DVI (you need dual DVI to display 120hz/3D) cable as well as HDMI cable. I am not so sure there is another company out there actually pack a HDMI cable in the box….(even though you don’t use it, it’s still cool). Thumbs up from me for sure.
PCPCGames Auction House #1
by Simon on Feb.16, 2011, under News
Welcome to the first edition of the pcpcgames auction house. This is where I will be talking about the gaming and technology industry’s financial news once a week.
I am sure a lot of you have already heard me on the podcast (2/12) talking about Activision Blizzard’s (ATVI) rumor of taking over Take-Two Interactive (TTWO) . Activision Blizzard announced the discontinue of Guitar Hero line
last week, and their stock immediate dropped from $11 to $10.4 with a lot of investors fleeing away. Without a clear franchise’s game coming out in 2011, they need a big positive impact for the shareholders. Activision Blizzard, the industry le ading game developer and publisher, currently has no debt and about 1.5 billion free cash to spent. Vivendi SA (VIV), current major stockholder of ATVI, sure will have some say in this, but after they finally sold off all their NBC Universe stocks this year for 5.8 billion; they should be okay for ATVI to do some business.
A very nice video talking about video gaming.

Sometimes we all fall in too deep into the lore of video gaming, the fight of video gaming, the experience of video gaming, the achievements of video gaming. It’s nice to give ourselves a little reality check

Simon’s basic League of Legends guide…. (with tweaks by Kommie)
by Simon on Jan.24, 2011, under Gaming
First of all, I am not a pro player or high level player, but what I am is a player that really enjoys this game. So I can (with help!) put down a very basic guide that will fast track you from level 1 to around level 15 or so. From then on, you have to “understand” the game yourself. (Guide for only 5v5). Also English is my 2nd language, so don’t hate my grammar. (Kommie: Oh I hate!)
This is something of a work in progress, but PLEASE GO AHEAD AND POST A COMMENT!

- There are 3 “lanes” or paths to the opponent base, each lane has 3 turrets and 1 inhibitor. There is also a river cutting though the middle of the map.
- Turret deals quite a lot of damage and have high amount of health.
- Turret will attack you if you are in their range. However it will attack your minions first if your minions get in range of the turret before you. If you attack an opponent champion, the turret will attack you no matter if there are friendly minions or not.
- There are also neutral monsters on the field that give you bonus attack power, mana regen, etc. The big red worm thing is called Baron Nashor. Killing it will give your team a good attack bluff. It’s in the middle of the upper part of the river. Killing the Dragon will give gold and it’s in the middle of the lower part of the river. Both have a lot of health so its not a good idea to attack them by yourself. Also there are two others that give a mana & cool-down buff on your abilities, and another two that give damage-over-time & slow down. These last ones are spread out in the “jungle”, one of each on each side.
- You always want to have “last hit” / kill on the minions so that you get more gold.
- Goal – The goal of the game is to get to the opponent team base and destroy their nexus while at the same time stopping them from doing the same to your nexus.
- Attacks – There are three types of “attack”
- True (Pure) damage: Caused by ignites and some Champion abilities. Nothing mitigates this type of attack (Though there are some spells and items that can block it).
- Physical damage: Normal standard attack and some champion abilities. You need to build ARMOR to counter physical damage
- Magic damage: Some champions do standard attacks as magical, and a lot of champion abilities are magic based. You need to build MAGIC RESIST to counter magic damage
- Leveling:
- You the “player”, is called a summoner. The level cap for summoners is 30. Summoner pick a champion to play for every game and champion starts at level 1.
- The higher your summoner level is, the more “bonuses” you can have on your champion.
- The Higher you Champion Level is, the more stats (HP, Mana) & abilities you get (There are four, including one that is an ultimate type that you get at 6th and twice more though your 18 levels) which do more damage as you pick the abilities again and again.
- Runes: You can buy runes only with IP which you earn by playing the game. Runes can add small little help such as health, magic resist, armor, attack damage, attack speed, etc…

Happy Birthday PCPCGames!
by Simon on Dec.30, 2010, under News
It’s was 1 year ago today, Karsten, curlen, Tim, and Josh brought us our number 1 episode to the world. From a good start, they have achieved goals that they didn’t even set out, unlocked secrets that kept deep down in the lore, and fought their way into our heart. Not sure where I am going with this. But afterall, I wish PCPCGames a happy birthday and many many more to come!
(What Simon didn’t mention is that Thanks to Him we celebrated in style last night. On the day of the first recording we enjoyed some Ice Cream Cake)
Thanks to Youtube for our birthday present! We are not limited to 15min anymore.
